Navigating the intricate dynamics of intimate relationships is both an art and a science. As you contemplate booking your very first appointment, I understand that you may be feeling nervous, unsure of how you arrived at this point, and seeking relief and understanding. Rest assured, I am here to support you.

Couples therapy can feel like high stakes because it involves one of your most significant relationships or perhaps the most important relationship in your life. My perspective is akin to a kaleidoscope, recognizing and honoring the complexity of identity and experiences within couples. Each relationship is a unique fusion of individual stories, beliefs, and backgrounds, and my aim is to create a therapeutic environment that respects and celebrates this diversity.

My approach

My approach to therapy is holistic, direct, and infused with warmth and kindness. I prioritize establishing connections with both you and your partner, fostering a safe space where open and honest exploration of your relationship dynamics can occur. By mindfully examining past patterns, we’ll delve into the experiences that have shaped your relationship, approaching them with compassion and understanding. I utilize tools and techniques in the moment to address challenges as they arise in real-time, leveraging these opportunities for deeper insight and growth. Additionally, I place significant emphasis on observing and exploring the dynamics that arise in the therapy room in real-time, as they often yield valuable insights and opportunities for growth.

Background

Drawing from my background in women’s spirituality and philosophy, I bring a deep understanding of the intricate interplay between personal beliefs and relationship dynamics. My own experience in an intercultural marriage has further enriched my perspective, allowing me to navigate the complexities of cultural differences with empathy and insight.

I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Integral Counseling from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Complementing my academic foundation, I’ve pursued specialized training in various modalities tailored to couples therapy, including Expressive Arts & Drama Therapy and Psychoanalytic Couples Therapy.

In my personal life

I find joy in singing, staying active through playing tennis, exploring new destinations through travel, and finding inspiration in the music of Taylor Swift. I also share my home with my husband, a Great Pyrenees shepherd mix pup named Wally, and an orange tabby cat named Phoenix in the Oakland Hills.
